I haven’t been working in advertising for too long but I have been working there. Having close access to a type of lifestyle that is paraded around in today’s media has given me access to some knowledge that not everyone is privy to.
The lifestyle that is enjoyed in the likes of TV shows such as Mad Men or even The Apprentice (that one episode that they do every series where they have to create an advert/ magazine etc) is completely manufactured by adland itself.
Now let me be clear, that in days of old, working in advertising may have actually been like this, particular the smoking that is an inherent theme throughout the wonderful television show ‘Mad Men’ but some of it may have never existed before it was self-concocted by the industry itself.
